Gwen Stefani and Rihanna were the very first two celebrities snapped wearing the new J Brand Houlihan skinny cargo pant. These are going to be huge! Gwen wears her Houli’s a little relaxed and casual in the park, while Rihanna goes a little bit getto-glam…nothing new there! The best thing about the latest J Brand super-style? They were named after Major Houlihan in M.A.S.H…gotta love them for that. They are on order and are due instore April xx

It’s raining in Sydney this week, but the Odd Molly and Freddy the Club Winter 2011 collections are keeping me smiling. Odd Molly presented a mezmorizing colour palette of vintage chalk, powder and almost black pieces, mixed with subtle prints and heavenly butter-soft knits. Freddy the Club was signature in style with oversized jersey hoodies, relaxed cobweb knits, brow-beaten leather and edgy, waxed cotton pants in tones of taupe, stone and ice-ice baby blue.

Proenza Schouler and J Brand Collaboration

An exciting one off collaboration between Proenza Schouler has taken place for Proenza’s first ever jean to hit the runway…and what a jean it is! The dynamic duo Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough said of their denim introduction “For Fall 2010 we are exploring ideas closer to home. Denim fits the bill as the most ubiquitous item in most people’s wardrobe. Proenza Schouler, for the first time will expolore this classic element, never-the-less infusing it with the Proenza Schouler DNA”. Debuting at New York Fashion week, Proenza’s modern silhouettes were true to form, but with an edgy punk-school girl attitude. Highlights were toggle jackets and v-neck sweaters teamed with eye-catching electric blue grafitti print skinny jeans, jacquard mini dresses and thigh high hose with smart jackets. Cheeky cheerleading skirts worn with sleek leather and sleeveless blouses, fur jackets and heavy stacked heels. Startlets Chloe Sevigny, Nicole Richie, Selma Blair and Mary-Kate Olsen crammed the front row in style. Proenza Schoulder’s denim line will be due in store mid July.

Our last two days in New York were spent buying up a storm and sitting through numerous conference meetings with our brand principles. I just love Mik Serfontaine, he is the ultimate LA rocker and such a lovely guy…we have been buying and selling his denim line for nearly six years now! Very excited about the new collection, Serfontaine denim has set the trend in four way stretch fabrication, that is above all others - the most comfortable and wearable denim of its kind.

The “Jegging”

Attention all fashionistas. The latest fashion terminology for somewhere in between a jean and a legging is the obvious combination of the “Jegging”. Some stores started describing this denim-ish item as the “knitted jean”, others the “pull on jean” but more recently “the Jegging” has made an entrance and is here to stay. The Jegging has an extremely strong presence in the market at the moment and the reason is obvious…people love to wear their jeans, but with the incredible comfort of a legging. J Brand’s legging in pitch has just arrived instore…I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, you won’t want to take them off!

Shop, shop, shop

Today we spent the day browsing hip boutique area Soho and visiting Bergdorf Goodman, Saks Fifth Ave, Bloomingdales, Barneys and Henri Bendel’s to see if there were any new must-have brands for Australia. We seem to have everything well and truly covered, J Brand still dominating the premium denim in all areas! The Sak’s Fifth Avenue designer shoe floor is by far the shoe floor of the moment with an astronomical selection of spring shoes (Bergdorf’s was also amazing). A pair of patent nude Christian Louboutin pumps, some Miu Miu jewelled flats and a chocolate brown Gucci bag should do me for the season. Yes chocolate, after four season’s of a virtually non-existent chocolate brown fashion world, it’s starting to see the light again and I am loving it’s subtle return. As for Gordon Ramsay, what can I say? The daft Scot/Englishman, with his delectable souffles, confits & consommes cannot be criticized…typical.

New York, New York

Touchdown! The three of us arrived in our favourite city last night for our annual US work trip - four days of buying, label conferences and shopping, shopping, shopping! (and of course eating in gorgeous cafes and restaurants). Staying at The London this year, I must say it’s lovely. Better than The Alex, nothing like The Hudson, but very classic New York with chic rooms and Gordon Ramsay’s restaurant Maze downstairs. Definitely going to be a harsh food critic at this one, but with two Michelin stars and attitude to boot, I’m guessing it will be more than good. Arriving late after a very long trip, we braved the cold and walked the glorious streets, buzzing with life and thick New York accents. We stumbled across a delightful little Italian restaurant, Il Gattopardo on 54th. A true hole-in-the-wall local haunt accompanied by three divine Italians, a magnificent vongole spagettini and a superb glass of Pinot - we were well and truly done for the night. Tomorrow will be a big day!

Love, love, love…is cashmere! A new addition to the Edwards Imports office, is the adorable cashmere brand Crumpet from the UK. Crumpet, is cashmere with a difference. Think a cashmere cardigan with an edgy leopard print, or a relaxed dress with a heavenly coral tye-dye twist. Hmmm…delicious. Crumpet is stocked at international stores net-a-porter.com, Harvey Nichols, Trilogy, Selfridges, The Dressing Room and Heidi Klien. We deliver Crumpet to Australia during May 2010, so be sure to keep an eye out!
