On a picture perfect backdrop on the steps of the Sydney Opera House, Dion Lee once agained wowed the audience with his unique design aesthetic, architechtural brilliance and immense attention to detail. Softening structured edges on last year, the show opened to a mesh story, light tailoring and then a series of blotted ink prints in lilac, pale blue, black and petrol seen through micro dresses, skirts and relaxed jackets. The moment that left everyone spinning were the pleated pieces in soft pastels that twisted, folded, draped and were left swinging in the breeze, highlighted by the morning sun shining through the historic venue. The Facade collection was one to remember and Dion Lee is undoubtedly a superstar of the future.

Posted by Fifiluxe on May 5th, 2010
Front row at Alex Perry allowed for full appreciation of the biggest show of RAFW 2010….Over 1400 people, 100 meter long runway and a consuming energy for all the stars that were out to play. The Arabian Princess collection presented sheer lace and feathery embellishments, bunched-up tulle-overloaded ball gowns and Grecian inspired dresses. A zebra stripe featured in mini dresses and sharp shouldered fitted jackets. Sequins, sparkles, boning back with flowing silks and all things good adorned these memorable frocks.

RAFW 2010 - Rachel Gilbert
Posted by Fifiluxe on May 3rd, 2010
Ginger & Smart, Lucette, Zambesi and Bec & Bridge to name a few kicked off day one of RAFW. Rachel Gilbert showcased a beautiful and balanced collection of sweet and sexy detailed dresses and floor length gowns. Think scaley, sequinned straps wrapping up floaty silks, thick cut outs with large sculptural ruffles and sheer panelling. Tones of pale pink, creams, lolly pink, black and a cute zip story in lilac and cream was my pick of the evening.

Grazia Notes…
Posted by Fifiluxe on April 30th, 2009
Grazia magazine came out with some fabulous pointers this week on “how to get spotted by The Satorialist”. With ideas like “ignore him, play hard to get,” ”never look him in the eye” and ” don’t ever smile, put your shoulders back and cross your legs if wearing heels,” I couldn’t help but have a chuckle. I did like the notes on ”wear tweed, tartan or leather to catch his eye,” “invest in an It bag,” and ”wear muted tones and make sure you’re in a fabulous light.” Very insightful! The Grazia girls always are…I have to say, everyone really took a step up with some adorable outfits being sported around the OPT. I was visualizing many an inspiring photograph being published by the marvellous Scott Schuman.

A star-studded audience packed the OPT on Tuesday night for the much awaited Coca-Cola Little Black Dress Show at Rosemount Australian Fashion Week. Australia’s top fashion designers Sass & Bide, Willow, Alice McCall, Romance Was Born, Alex Perry, Kirilly Johnston, Marnie Skillings, Kate Sylvester, Alpha 60 and Missoni re-created the LDB drawing inspiration from the ever-curvacious CC bottle! My favourite dress? The Marnie Skillings belted LBD with tulle overlay, magnificent.

Therese Rawsthorne

The lines were fluid at Therese Rawsthorne with modern- feminine silhouettes in nude, peach, white and cornflower blue. Relaxed shirting and silk frill dresses, were teamed back with long-line taylored jackets, skirts and pants in magical natural washed fibres. A stretch mesh component drew an edge to the collection refining Rawsthorne’s signature style.
