We have a full showroom this week…Lulu and Liv are my saviors as we cram in over 25 buyers, 8 collections and all over 5 days of Fashion Week. So many people are in town and they are used to the frenzy that comes with RAFW! Headed down to the Overseas Passenger Terminal and the atmosphere was buzzing. From all my travels around the world, it’s so exciting to attend our very own Fashion Week with our very own style. We spend the day juggling between the showroom and the fashion shows as don’t want to miss too many of them! Our store in Paddington Come As You Are holds a parade of fashionistas all day and I’m loving the people watching xx

Lots happening in the prelude to the big week!
- The amazing Garance Dore talks fashion blogging with fellow blogger and journalist Patty Huntington (frockwriter.blogspot.com) at the presentation of her beautiful illustrations for the Westfields Winter launch that can be viewed at Bondi Junction and Doncaster Westfields. What a wonderful insight into the world of fashion blogging and her dedication of staying true to her blog and only posting on the shows and things she loves.
- The divine duo, Scott Schuman and Garance Dore have already posted on Sydney street style. Gorgeous as per! (garancedore.fr/en) & (thesartorialist.blogspot.com)
- Like a scene out of Shakespere’s As You Like It, the wonderful Marni Skillings had her off site Lady.Nimble.Shadow Spring/Summer 2010/11 show in the beautiful Botanical Gardens yesterday.
- Glamour is the word as Carla Zampatti opened her beautiful Woollahra home to launch her Spring/Summer 2010/11 collection. The elegant collection was accessorized by Michelle Jank’s unique headgear and elbow-length gloves. What a fashion icon for Australia, with over 45 years in the industry Carla Zampatti is going from strength to strength.

Janine Edwards Boutique Expands

We have recently expanded one of our flagship retail stores, Janine Edwards at Marina Mirage on the Gold Coast. The mini mecca has re-opened to rave reviews with fashionistas loving the new department style of the store, where you journey through enclaves and racks of labels showcased in every corner. An exciting development is the addition of the J Brand Gallery where the latest styles are piled high and displayed on a denim feature wall.
Janine Edwards boutique has been operating at Marina Mirage for over 20 years and the center is a must-visit shopping destination after it’s recent $20 million re-furbshment that was completed in January 2010. It has attracted high profile stores Mimco, Christensen Copenhagen and Little Joe by Gail Elliot to name a few, since it’s sleek new development.

Odd Molly Flagship Store Opening in LA

The opening of the US flagship Odd Molly store on Robertson Boulevard, Beverly Hills was a huge success this month. Heidi Klum and an abundance of Hollywood celebrities attended including Malin Akerman, Mena Suvari, Lake Bell, Catt Sadler, Lydia Hearst, Lily Collins, Tara Subkoff, Izabella Miko, Danny Houston, (a very skinny) Kelly Osbourne, Mini Anden and all the Swedish Hollywood Wives (a popular reality show in Sweden). The evening was hosted by none other than Helena Christensen for Odd Molly co-founders and designers Per Holknekt, Karin Jimfelt-Ghatan, Christina Tillman and Christer Andersson.

Rosemount Australian Fashion Week kicks of in less than two weeks on May 3rd and Sydney is buzzing! 60 runways, 130+ designers, fashion’s finest and a very special 15th Birthday Party to add to the celebrations.
- Rumour has it that Collette Dinnigan is doing a last minute show instore at the David Jones Elizabeth Street store on April 29th. Collette missed Paris in March and hasn’t shown in Australia for the last few years so looking forward to this one!
- The fashion bloggers will be out in full, front-row force with Susie of Style Bubble, Tommy Ton of Jak & Jil Blog, Garance Dore and Scott Schuman of The Satorialist confirmed. Style.com’s Tim Blanks will also be teaming up with Vogue.com.au and reporting on RAFW. Fashion blogging royalty!
- This year Rosemount’s Fashion Ambassador will be none other than the fresh faced Alyssa Sutherland who will be front row and center at all the big shows. Alyssa who is a guest this year, first graced the catwalk 12 years ago for MAFW at Fox Studios…she has certainly come a long way.

Another disheartening moment…

Since the launch of fifiluxe.com in early 2008, I have fast learnt many lessons on the downfalls of owning an online business. As a new online boutique open to the big, world-wide-web and accessed by virtually anyone (who knew that people in Sarawak or Lampung, Indonesia loved Rock & Republic jeans so much?) I was agressively targeted with people using stolen credit cards. Goods were shipped to strange countries never to be seen again and the funds simply reversed once reported stolen a month later. Hard lesson in fraud leant.
After combatting this awful start, I began to gain confidence again with my new street-smart attitude (and a fool-proof fraud pack from the CBA) when just last week, I learnt of another unbelievable rip-off. Someone (if you can call them a person) hacked into my system, activated the paypal payment option and had Paypal payments from fifiluxe diverted to their account for the last month. I am blown away at the thought of how these criminals sleep at night…serious bad karma coming their way!! It seems that in cyberspace, anything goes and you feel a little vulnerable at times…I have however learnt, that people like to pay with Paypal, (in addition to Visa, Mastercard and American Express) so we have linked up our own account and is now safe to use…..guaranteed xx

Hunky Dory was a big hit in Sydney this week with buyers drawn to the unique design aesthetic and enchanting fabrications that featured throughout the impressive Swedish collection. Winter 2011 showcased decorated coats, double wrap stud belts, chunky cashmere knitwear, suiting and whimsical cotton pieces that shone through creating a regal and old-world feel that was truly charismatic.
